The Marauders was initially formed to help a JV high school team get extra playing time in the fall so they could improve their skills and move up to Varsity. The team grew and became a full fledged travel squad, albeit with student-athletes and coaches who had never done travel softball before. The team attended many friendlies and small tournaments, and then took a stab at a bigger Triple Crown tournament in San Diego.
The trip to San Diego, while fun, did not go as planned.
Players moved up and moved on to Varsity and college teams over the years. Even the coaches moved on to coach at the college level. All along however the need to help develop and grow talent on the travel ball stage kept gnawing at both ex-players and coaches alike.
With a renewed energy and greater focus the Marauders have regrouped in 2017 with new knowledge and experience and aim to fulfill the basic goal started back in 2011: to develop student-athletes to be successful both on and off the field through the great sport of fastpitch softball!
Coach Charlie has been coaching fastpitch softball for 10 years. He has coached little leage/rec teams, JV and Varsity high school teams, and was an assistant on a college team. Find out more about the coaching and training style from our philosophy page!
